About Denney Poetry Workshop

The Denney Juvenile Justice Center Poetry workshop is facilitated by Snohomish County Children's Writer, Mindy Hardwick. The poetry workshop began in March 2005 and is on-going. The workshop includes both boys and girls units. In the poetry workshop, teens write about their lives and experiences. We also read young adult novels and memoirs and incorporate discussion of the literature with our poetry. The youth's poetry has been published in four chapbooks and this blog. Some of the funding for the workshops has been provided by the following: BECU School Grants, Everett Public Schools Foundation, Greater Everett Community Foundation, Terrry & Cheryle Earnheart Fund for Children, Tulalip Tribes, and The Blanche Miller Art Exhibit Program.
